Shop Assistant: an AI that sells for you in Khmer and English

It answers customers the way a good salesperson would: in their language, from the shop’s real stock and prices. It quotes delivery, takes the order and sends a KHQR to pay.

The Shop Assistant chat in Khmer on a phone. The customer asks if the shirt comes in black, size M, and the assistant replies that the linen shirt is in stock for $18.00.
The problem

The same questions, all day and all night

Slow replies lose sales, and orders get lost in the chat.

Shops that sell on Facebook and Telegram answer the same questions all day: how much, which sizes, is it in stock, how much is delivery. Replies are slow when the owner is busy, and at night nobody answers at all.

Customers who wait buy somewhere else. The ones who do order leave their details somewhere in a long chat, and orders get lost.

What it does

From first question to paid order

Every part of the demo works. Try it on your own phone.

  • Replies in their language

Khmer, English or a mix, the way customers really write.

  • Real stock and sizes

Checks the shop’s own product list before it answers.

  • Delivery by district

Quotes the fee and timing for each Phnom Penh district.

  • Takes the order

Sums it up and sends a KHQR to pay.

  • Owner can take over

Step into any chat at any time.

  • Orders on Telegram

The owner gets each order as a message.

Screens from the demo

  • Shop Assistant demo for Mealea Fashion: a chat where a customer asks for a black linen shirt in size M and delivery to Toul Kork, next to the order summary the owner receives on Telegram.

The demo on desktop, with what the owner receives on Telegram.

  • The chat in Khmer on a phone showing delivery to Toul Kork for $1.50 and an order summary of $19.50 with a red Pay with KHQR button.

Delivery quoted, order taken, KHQR ready to pay.

How it’s built

Simple parts, chosen to last

The same stack we use for client projects.

  • Next.js
  • Gemini AI
  • Tool calling
  • KHQR
  • Built with Next.js, with the chat running on the server so keys and shop data stay private.
  • Google Gemini writes the replies, but facts come from the shop’s own tools: stock, prices and delivery fees. It only states what those tools return.
  • Rate limits stop abuse, and a fallback reply means the customer never sees a broken chat.
  • Payment is by KHQR. In the demo it’s simulated and no money moves.
